Tore André Flo (born June 15, 1973 in Stryn , Norway ) is a former Norwegian football player .
Flo began his amateur career at his hometown club in Stryn. In 1993 he moved to Sogndal IL , where he played with his brothers Jostein and Jarle Flo and his cousin Håvard Flo . When Sogndal was relegated from the Tippeligaen , Tore Andre Flo moved to Tromsø IL .
Flo had a very successful time in Tromsø, as he was the top scorer in the Norwegian 1st division in 1995 with 18 goals. Due to his good performance, he was appointed to the Norwegian national football team for the first time in the same year and made his debut in a game against England .
Then Flo moved to league rival Brann Bergen in January 1996 , where he scored 28 goals. During this time Flo matured into one of the best strikers in his country and became a fixture in the national team. Based on the Brazilian national player Ronaldo , he was nicknamed "Flonaldo". Norway's 4-2 win in a friendly against Brazil was particularly impressive .
In January 1998 Flo moved to England for Chelsea for the relatively meager transfer fee of 300,000 pounds . There he convinced many skeptics and scored 50 goals in 163 competitive games for the London club. Under coaches Gianluca Vialli and Claudio Ranieri , he found himself increasingly on the bench, which led him to move to the top Scottish league. In 2000 he moved to Glasgow Rangers for £ 12 million , which made him the most expensive Norwegian player ever. In Glasgow he was able to score in his first game against city rivals Celtic Glasgow , which the Rangers won 5-1, but then rarely convince again. Flo then moved to Sunderland , where he was able to score in the first game, but left the club after one season after relegation.
In 2003 he therefore signed a two-year contract with AC Siena , for which he scored twelve goals in 63 league games. In 2004 he ended his active career in the Norwegian national team, for which he scored 23 goals in 76 games between 1995 and 2004. Since his family did not like the southern European climatic conditions, he decided in 2005 to move back home to Norway to Vålerenga IF.
In January 2007 he then moved to Leeds United . His salary at Leeds United took over the band Kaiser Chiefs . In March 2008 he ended his professional career.
On November 21, 2008, the Milton Keynes Dons announced the signing of Flo. The transfer was arranged by Milton Keynes manager Roberto Di Matteo , who played with Flo at Chelsea. After the 2008/09 season, his contract with the MK Dons was terminated prematurely after he had remained in 13 games without scoring.
