The Torfbahn Pischtschalskoje ( Russian Узкоколейная железная дорога Пищальского торфопредприятия / Uskokoleinaja schelesnaja doroga Pischtschalskowo torfopredprijatija ) is a light railway in the Russian Kirov Oblast , Mirny .

history

The first portion of the narrow-gauge railway in 750 mm gauge was opened in 1963, 35 km connecting urban-type Mirny with a peat bog . Today it is used to transport peat and to move workers. At the northern end of the line, the peat is reloaded into broad-gauge railway wagons with a gauge of 1520 mm and brought to a combined heat and power plant in Kirow .
