The Torhelm in the Kelchsau, in Tyrol is with a height of 2494  m above sea level. A. one of the highest peaks in the Kitzbühel Alps .

Location and landscape

The mountain stands at the end of several side valleys of the Zillertal and Brixental : North-west of the summit is the Hemergrund, the end of the Märzengrund , a side valley of the Zillertal. The Wilde Krimml in the southwest drains via the Krummbach - and the Gerlostal also into the Zillertal, while the Lange Grund in the northeast leads over the Kelchsau into the Brixental.

One of the neighboring peaks of the Torhelm is the Kreuzjoch  ( 2558  m ).

Climbs and summit cross

In spring in particular, many ski tourers visit the Torhelm, as it is one of the mountains within the Kitzbühel Alps on which one can go on the longest ski tours. The descent on firn is usually possible far into the valley until the end of May. In summer the Torhelm can be reached via hiking trails from the Wilder Krimml and the Langen Grund.

At the summit of the Torhelm there is a large wooden summit cross that was erected in 1978. The following slogan is affixed to a bronze plaque: “Strike when a hand is shaken, because caution is not necessary. The person who loves his mountains is always straight and simple. "
