Torkan

Torkan Daneshfar-Pätzoldt (born July 29, 1941 in Azar-Shahr , Iran ; † September 6, 2019 in Hamburg ) was a German writer of Iranian origin who published under the name TORKAN .

Career

After studying pedagogy and English at the University of Tehran , she taught in the Iranian capital as a primary school teacher. Since 1964 she lived in Hamburg . Here she worked as a freelance journalist and translator for several German-language magazines. In 1987 she founded the “first foreigners party” in Germany, the Party of Foreign and German Democrats (PADD). She was married to Björn Pätzoldt , their daughter is the singer and actress Marjan Shaki .
