Torsten Dechert (2016)

Torsten Dechert (born May 3, 1966 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German live and studio drummer .

In 1981 he founded the funk band Midnite Fun together with Marco Ramazzotto and Arman Vardar . The group toured as an entertaining and, above all, danceable live act throughout Germany. In 1987 Dechert joined the rock'n'roll band (with the guitarist Rolle, see below). In 1989 the former guitarist and singer of the band Flatsch got him ! Olaf Mill in his new group Olaf and the Band .

In 1990 Dechert founded the hard rock-funk formation The Stroke with the now deceased singer Mikki Byron, guitarist Andy Blöcher and bassist Ray Finkenberger-Levin , which at times seemed to be a promising project (1991 opening act for the Californian band Toto, 1992 CD release by Sony ). In 1990 Dechert joined the German punk rock band Strassenjungs . In 1992 he went on a tour of Germany with the Turkish-German singer Tülay , on whose album he had already participated. The single Your Sex Is Ex was number 1 in the hit parade on Hit Radio FFH for a few weeks .

In the 1990s Dechert worked on countless studio productions. In 2000 he founded the Radau band Schmutzhanzz with his former street boy colleagues Andi Mengler and Michael Liebert, which, however, did not make it beyond a CD production.

In 2001 Torsten Dechert recorded two albums with the Spanish-based guitarist and singer Rolle (Simple Songs, Party Shoes), who is also known as the German translator of the comic series Die Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz .

In 2003 Dechert could be seen again as a live drummer in the WDR Rockpalast concert of the street boys, which was also released on DVD. Since 2005 he has been working on his own band project Willemer 15, where he also works as a songwriter. In the meantime, German lyrics have also been written for other artists, for example Dagmar (The Lady of Country) .

From 2006 to 2009 Dechert was a member of the rock band The Heilig , which won the first audience award at the Hessian Rock and Pop Prize 2008 . Since 2007 Dechert has been working with Sheila Messina and Udo Kistner on the Skywalk R&B project . Since 2009 he has played in the blues rock band The Mathew Albert Band .
