Udo Kistner

Udo Kistner (born January 30, 1954 in Offenbach am Main ) is a German jazz and blues bassist.

The autodidact Kistner founded the Michael Sagmeister Trio with the guitarist Michael Sagmeister in 1976 , with which he quickly achieved national fame in the jazz scene; he also appeared temporarily with Henryk Darlowski's Virgo . From 1989 he was bass player in the Daniel Guggenheim Group . With this fusion band he recorded two albums. Concert tours have taken him to Argentina, among others. Since 1992 Kistner has played in the Frankfurt City Blues Band . In 1998 he recorded an album with jazz guitarist Thomas Langer , with which he also went on tour. In 2002 an album was created with the cabaret artist Armin Töpel . Since then Udo Kistner has been playing live with, among others, Backroots and the Manfred Häder blues band . Since 2007 Udo Kistner has been working with Sheila Messina, Michael Minor, Torsten Buckpesch, Uwe Schmedemann and Torsten Dechert in the R&B band project Skywalk .

Kistner's trademark is his virtuoso solo playing, stylistically reminiscent of Jaco Pastorius , whom he calls his musical role model.
