Thomas Langer (* 1967 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German jazz - guitarist , composer and producer.

biography

Langer studied guitar at the Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles until 1991 , where he received the Outstanding Stylist Award upon graduation , and in 1993 at the New School of Music in New York . He was also a student of Ted Greene , Scott Henderson and Joe Diorio .

Since then Langer has played both as a sideman and in his own ensembles in the field of jazz-rock as well as in rock, folk and pop. He is a member of the band of the organist Barbara Dennerlein and has played with Ack van Rooyen and Keith Copeland , among others . He also performs as a long trio with Claus Hessler (dr) and Claudio Zanghieri (b) .

In March 2010 he released the CD The First Cut Is the Jeeepest with Stephanie Wagner and Ralf Cetto as Trio Jeeep .

Since 2001, Thomas Langer has been guitarist in the Maximal Kulturinitiative in Rodgau and host of the monthly Jazz Nights , in which jazz classics and modern standards are presented with constantly changing line-ups with him and nationally and internationally renowned musicians in casual session concerts.

Honourings and prices

In 2013 Thomas Langer was awarded the Rodgau City Culture Prize for outstanding cultural achievements.
