Ralf Cetto (* 1965 in Saarbrücken ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass , electric bass , composition ).

Live and act

Cetto studied jazz electric bass with Andreas Lonardoni at the Cologne University of Music and attended master classes with Alphonso Johnson and John Patitucci . During his studies he taught the minor bassists at the Cologne University of Music. Since 2001 he has been teaching bass and ensemble conducting at the Mainz University of Music .

In the 1990s, Cetto was part of the Impala fusion trio (with guitarist David Heintz and drummer Andy Gillmann ), with whom he recorded three albums. With his own band Universal Language he played in Germany and Ireland. With the trio of Aziza Mustafa Zadeh he performed worldwide, u. a. at the Montreux Jazz Festival and at the Leverkusener Jazztage (WDR recording). He performed with the quartet of Bob Degen and Valentín Garvie at the German Jazz Festival Frankfurt 2011. He was also one of the bands of Tony Lakatos , Ivan Lins , Stephanie Wagner , Uli Schiffelholz and Thomas Bachmann . He has participated in numerous CD and radio productions and has performed with Lydie Auvray , Joan Faulkner , Sheila E. , Percy Sledge , Adam Nussbaum , Will Calhoun , Mitchel Forman , Joe Porcaro , Dave Lombardo , Michael Shapiro , Ralph Humphrey, Torsten de Winkel as well the SWR radio orchestra .

Prizes and awards

In 1988 Cetto was a finalist of the European Jazz Competition at the Leverkusener Jazz Days with the quartet Grossi-Keller-Sanguinetti-Cetto.
