From this work the idea for a Ruhr area comic developed. Tordi invents the character of the miner and pigeon fancier Jupp Turteltaub and wrote the first scenario for a comic book adventure entitled Turteltaub and the secret of the browns . He placed three dwarfs from the depths of the mine at the side of his hero. Short strips were created from the first drafts. In addition, the pigeons themselves developed into heroes and became an integral part of the strips.

In 2006 one of the largest specialist journals for the pigeon sport, Die Brieftaube of the German carrier pigeon fanciers' association , took notice of him and has published a lovebird strip every week since 2006. The strips are now appearing in another specialist magazine and a regional newspaper.

Since 2007 he has been working with Emons Verlag Cologne, which also published the first comic book, The Little Man, His Race Horses . Its component in turn is the satirical pigeon fairy tale With a leg in soup .

In 2009 there was a collaboration with the Gong publishing house in Ismaning . Since June 2009 (issue 27) the pigeon cartoons have appeared weekly in the program magazines Gong (magazine) and Bild & Funk. Since issue 43/2009 the cartoons have also appeared in Super TV magazine, also from Gong-Verlag.

In November 2017, Kyons Turteltaub Verlag published the second 96-page comic book Zwei Tauben in New York .

The only comic about pigeons and their breeders

After François Walthéry “The Old Blue” from 1972 (published in Germany in 1992) with six short stories about a pigeon fancier, Tordi draws the only comic about pigeons and their fanciers in a row. In addition, the pigeons play a more important role for him than for Walthery. They talk, live and act ... in their own pigeon world, with their own stories and problems.

The illustrators have a similar biographical background, both illustrators grew up with pigeons. Father and grandfather were both pigeon fanciers.
