Torsten Nitsche

Torsten Nitsche (born May 22, 1977 in Görlitz ) is a former German cyclist .

In 1995 Torsten Nitsche, who started for RSC Cottbus , came second in the team pursuit on the track at the Junior World Championships , together with Stephan Schreck , Klaus Mutschler and Daniel Becke , and third in the points race . In the same year he became German junior champion in the single pursuit . In 1999 he won the Klingnau reservoir tour . He started twice on the International Peace Tour .

In 2000, Nitsche became a professional and initially started for the Saeco team , and from 2003 for the Gerolsteiner team .

In February 2003 Torsten Nitsche was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart defect. He had an operation and had to end his cycling career immediately. For several years he was the sports director of the International Tour of Thuringia .
