The 31st Tour du Poitou-Charentes 2017 was a French road bike race in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . The stage race took place from August 22nd to 25th, 2017 . It was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2017 and classified there in category 2.1 .
The overall winner was the Dane Mads Pedersen from Trek-Segafredo .
The first stage was shaped by the wind and falls. In the end there was a sprint of about 40 riders. The Italian Elia Viviani (Sky) won this sprint ahead of Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) and was the first overall leader. On the second stage, Bouhanni, who was second the day before, won the sprint ahead of Viviani. As a result, Bouhanni took over the overall lead.
The next day, Viviani won the third stage in the morning before Bouhanni again in the sprint and he took back the overall lead. In the afternoon there was an individual time trial as the fourth stage. This was won by the Dane Mads Pedersen (Trek), who became the new overall leader.
The fifth stage again ended in the sprint. Marc Sarreau (FDJ) was the fastest this time and won the stage ahead of Viviani. Pedersen kept the overall lead and thus won the entire tour.
