Tova Magnusson-Norling (born June 18, 1968 in Huddinge , Stockholm County , Sweden as Towa Dorothea Magnusson ) is a Swedish actress , comedian and film director .

Life

Tova Magnusson-Norling grew up as a child in the countryside in Sorunda, not far from Nynäshamn, on a single mother. While her mother remarried, her biological father tried to gain a foothold in Hollywood as an actor. Although she was always in the school theater, she was hardly interested in acting. It was only when she was working as an assistant director for the small theater group Småfolket from Nynäshamn that one of the actresses broke her leg shortly before the premiere of a play, so that she had to jump in for them. By chance, the Swedish director Rumle Hammerich was in the audience, who then hired her for his thriller Tödliches Demand . During the shoot, she not only met her future husband Figge Norling , but also received a Guldbaggen nomination for Best Actress for her debut .

She then married Norling in 1992 and took his last name. In 1993 they had their first of two children. When she was still in the wedding preparations, however, she applied to an acting school and was able to master application round after application round and was about to be admitted when she could no longer appear because of the wedding. She decided against the visit and instead focused on her career. So she not only worked in parallel in the theater, in film and television, but also founded the artist collective Gruppen in 1997 together with Simon Norrthon , Mal Cederbladh and her husband Norling

At about the same time as her divorce from Norling, Magnusson-Norling switched to directing. After her directorial debut in 2004 she directed the drama Fröken Sverige , in 2007 the mini TV series Gynekologen i Askim and in 2010 the comedy drama Fyra år till .
