The teary seam fungus ( Lacrymaria lacrymabunda , syn .: Psathyrella lacrymabunda ), also called tearful fiber , is a type of fungus from the family of the kernel relatives (Psathyrellaceae).

features

The drops on the lamellar edges of the bleeding seam fungus leave dark spots as they dry out.

Macroscopic features

The hat reaches a width of 10–100 mm and is quite fleshy compared to other species of the genus. It is arched to spread out and often hunched flat. Its surface is dirty-gray-brown to yellow-brown and felt-like and fibrous. Remnants of velum fringes can often be found on the edge . The lamellae are piebald, dark brown to black and bulged and grown. The cutting edges are notched and white. When young and when the weather is damp, they are covered with small droplets, which leave dark spots when they dry up. The spore powder is black. The stalk is pale on top and dirty brown below, measures 40–120 × 3–10 mm and often has a volatile, fibrous ring zone.

Microscopic features

The spores are lemon-shaped, coarse black, measure 8–11.5 × 5–6.5 micrometers and have a large germ pore . The cheilocystids are club-shaped.

ecology

The bleeding border fungus can be found from spring to autumn in greasy meadows, gardens, parks, on roadsides and in similar locations. The species is common.

meaning

The bleeding mushroom is edible, but not a particularly good edible mushroom due to its musty aftertaste.

confusion

The species is quite easy to recognize in its typical form by its piebald or droplet lamellas and its fibrous hat. The reddish-colored, much rarer fire- colored seam fungus ( Lacrymaria pyrotricha ) is similar . In addition, the fungus can be confused with species from other genera such as fibroids ( Psathyrella ) or cracked mushrooms ( Inocybe ).
