Tracey Moffatt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tracey Moffatt (born November 12, 1960 in Brisbane , Queensland ) is an Australian avant-garde artist , photographer and filmmaker who lives in Noosa Heads, Sydney and New York .

Career

In Visual Communication , Tracey Moffatt graduated from the Queensland College of Art with a Bachelor of Arts in 1982 and went to Sydney. There she began with style exercises as a filmmaker and photographer in the areas of Aboriginal , childhood trauma and new media . Tracey Moffatt published the photo series Some Lads and The Movie Star in 1985 and 1986 on the subject of Aboriginal and whites . In 1989, the photo series Something More was about violence and disappointment in a glittering world .

Night cries. A Rural Tragedy brought Tracey Moffatt international attention at the Cannes Film Festival in 1989 by once again addressing the Australian natives problem .

Apart from the Aboriginal theme, photos were presented in Pet Thang in 1991 in a dream-like sequence.

In 1993, BeDevil , Tracey Moffatt directed, wrote the screenplay and appeared as Ruby Morphet in one of the three sequences. Ruby and her husband are bullied by a devilish ghost in the film.

The adolescence theme, raised in 1994 in the photo series Scarred for Life (roughly: drawn for life), was taken up again five years later. 1995 in the photo series Goodlooking (German: Gutaussehend) roller derby girls attack each other.

The material for her 1997 film Heaven was given to Tracey Moffatt by voyeuristic women who had filmed male surfers on Bondi Beach . In the photo series Laudanum and lip (for example: Opium und Lippe), Tracey Moffatt experimented with toning on heliogravures in 1999 . In terms of content, this work is probably - as in the brightly colored Adventure Series from 2004 - about tangible sexual sensitivities.

In the 2005 photo series Under the Sign of Scorpio , Tracey Moffatt placed Catherine Deneuve , Georgia O'Keeffe , Björk and several other artists in a wonderful, but sometimes eruptive world. The photo series Doomed (about: doomed) for the film of the same name from 2007 also ends explosively.
