Traditional leaders of the Tswana

The traditional leaders of the Tswana were leaders of the homeland Tswanaland (today's Namibia ) and have been the representatives of the small ethnic minority of the Tswana since Namibia's independence .

Legal basis

According to the Namibian Constitution of 1990, traditional leaders, tribal and clan heads, as well as traditionally determined or democratically elected leaders, are given a permanent place in the Namibian political system . This takes into account the multicultural and multi-layered society of the country.

The constitution provides for the title of chief (in German boss) and senior headman (oldest leader) for traditional leaders . The traditional title can be worn as an addition.

Batswana ba Namibia

The Batswana ba Namibia referred to the Tsawana in Namibia. Their seat is Mokaleng , the traditional title is Kgosi .

Bakgalagadi

The Bakgalagadi , people of the Kalahari , also Bakgalagadi ba Namibia , are a clan of the Tsawana. Your seat is Corridor 13 , the traditional title is Kgoshi .
