history

The Spanish Trappist Abbey of San Isidro de Dueñas founded in 1958 under Archbishop Daniel Gomes Junqueira (1894-1970) in Cachiungo (Portuguese colonial name : Bela Vista ) not far from the Benguela Railway the monastery Nossa Senhora de Bela Vista , which was elevated to a priory in 1971 , but under the turmoil of the Civil war in Angola in the seventies. Most of the monks returned to Spain. The monastery was moved to Cavaco-Benguela. In 2011, the Centro de Espiritualidade Diocesana da Trapa ("Diocesan Center for Spirituality", superior: Venâncio Branco) emerged from the crisis-ridden monastery under the local bishop Eugénio Dal Corso (* 1939) . Some monks moved to Olinda (Brazil), Archdiocese of Olinda e Recife , to the Mosteiro de Nossa Senhora do Monte monastery , and later to the Trappist Abbey of Novo Mundo . In 2014, Nuncio Novatus Rugambwa visited the Center for Spirituality. The administration of the order regards the monastery as not closed. Bishop Mateus Feliciano Augusto Tomás (1958-2010) was a temporary novice in Bela Vista.
