Traubeli Weiss

Traubeli Weiss (* 1954 ; † February 10, 2012 ) was a German solo guitarist of gypsy jazz .

Live and act

Weiss comes from a musical Sinti family . He worked with many well-known greats in the scene, such as Häns'che Weiss , Stochelo Rosenberg and Titi Winterstein . With his own ensemble he released the album Dreaming of You in 1994 . In the mid-1990s he founded the Oechsner-Weiss Ensemble with the violinist Mic Oechsner , which initially appeared in clubs and festivals across Germany and soon also in larger venues. In 1996 the band released a CD under the title Keri at home , which was quite successful. In 1999 the group took part in the production of the comedy nobility , Der Zigeunersimmerl , for Bavarian Broadcasting .

Due to illness, Weiss could not appear for several years; After recovering in 2007, he led his own trio, which released a CD, and played in the New Gypsy Generation with younger members of his family. The Oechsner Weiss Ensemble also went on another major tour in 2009.

Furthermore, Weiss was on the film productions Peppermint Peace and lilies in the Bank of Marianne Rosenbaum involved. Tom Lord has five recordings in his Jazz Discography in 1993 and 1994.
