Don't trust a stranger (original title: Deadly Isolation ) is an American - Canadian mystery thriller from 2005 . Directed by Rodney Gibbons and written by David Rosenfelt .
action
The widowed Susan Mandaway lives alone and secluded in her secluded but idyllic house on an island off the coast of Maine . She only has regular contact with her friends Lisa (Sara Bradeen) and Kirby (Marcel Jeannin), the local police officer. She still can't understand why her husband Ron committed suicide. One day she discovers a boat on which she finds the unconscious Jeff Watkins (Nicholas Lea) who pretends to have a boating accident.
Her friends are skeptical, but Susan insists that Jeff can relax at her house. The two get closer in the next few days and Susan has been really happy again for a long time.
What she cannot foresee, however: Jeff has a dark secret; his real name is Patrick Carlson and he and her husband stole diamonds in a museum. Now he has sneaked into her to look for the booty that Susan's husband took after the robbery and hidden in the house from his death.
As a dutiful policeman, Kirby researches the newcomer and finds inconsistencies. He goes to Susan's house to investigate further. There he only meets Jeff. He fears that Kirby could discover his true identity and kills him. To cover up the true cause of death, the gangster staged a traffic accident involving Kirby's police car. Susan slowly discovers her husband's secret. Susan, shocked by the death of her friend Kirby, discovers that Jeff has something to do with Kirby's death. She wants to flee. But then another accomplice turns up, the choleric Kyle Mumford, who previously killed a fourth accomplice, whom the police were already on the trail. Both robbers then tie up Susan and interrogate her. She can free herself and fights against the gangsters. The situation escalates, because Kyle becomes increasingly impatient and wants to kill Susan. Jeff suddenly stands on Susan's side and sees the barrel of Kyle's gun pointed at him. There is a showdown between the two.
