Traun is part of the municipality of Schmieritz in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
geography
The hamlet of Traun is located at the end of the northern roof of the southeast Thuringian slate mountains to the Orlatal , which has quite fertile soils. Traun is located directly on the federal highway 281 from Saalfeld towards Gera and Leipzig with a connection at Triptis to the federal highway 9 . In addition, the Leipzig – Probstzella railway line passes close to the village.
history
The first documentary mention took place in 1378. The Romanesque church was rebuilt in the 17th century. After 1945, the local farmers were involved in the Neustadt an der Orla agricultural and industrial association . After the fall of the Wall they found new ways of agricultural development.
