Traun cycle path

The Traunradweg (also Traunweg) is an approximately 85-kilometer-long Upper Austrian cycle path that is mostly led along the Traun .

The cycle path, which is signposted with the abbreviation for the Upper Austrian cycle path network (R4), begins in Gmunden at the Traun Bridge and ends a few kilometers east of the mouth of the Traun on the Danube at the Abzüge-Asten power station in Asten , where it joins the Danube cycle path (R1).

For cyclists, the cycle path is one of the most important north-south routes in Upper Austria, with sections on the one hand also running on the lanes for general traffic and on the other hand together with pedestrian paths.

The cycle path mainly leads over asphalt and gravel stretches. With a total of 377 m ascent and 201 m descent (towards Asten – Gmunden), it is considered easy and suitable for families.

Route

The Traunradweg touches the following places: Gmunden , Oberweis , Laakirchen , Steyrermühl , Desselbrunn (Viecht, Fallholz), Mitterbergholz , Rüstorf (Mitterberg, Kaufing, Glatzing, Eglau), Stadl-Paura , Lambach , Edt bei Lambach (Edt, Saag), Wels (City) , Thalheim , Schleissheim , Traun , Linz , Asten . Sights along the Traun cycle path are shown at the locations listed. In addition to the historic town centers of Gmunden and Wels, the Traunfall falls between Steyrermühl and Roitham, the Lambach Benedictine monastery and the Traun and Ebelsberg castles are particularly noteworthy .

There are connections to the Upper Austrian and national cycle path network in Gmunden (Salzkammergut cycle path, R2), in Laakirchen (Traunviertler cycle path, R 13), in Lambach ( Römer cycle path , R6), in Thalheim (Almtal path, R11), in Wels (panorama cycle path , R 19), Traun (Kremstal cycle path , R10) and in Asten ( Danube cycle path , R1).

Rail connections

The route of the Traunradweg runs from Gmunden to Lambach near the Trauntalbahn and from Lambach to Asten near the Westbahn , so that train stations or stops can be reached again and again.
