The Abzüge-Asten power plant is a run-of- river power plant in the Danube between the Upper Austrian towns of Abhaben (municipality of Luftenberg ) and Asten (east of Linz and west of Enns ). It belongs to the Austrian Danube power plants and was built from 1976 to 1979.
technical description
The system has five weir fields , each with a clear width of 24 m and two locks (each 230 × 24 m). The reservoir length of the river is around 27 km and the reservoir target is at river kilometer 2119.45 at an altitude of 251 m above sea level. A.
Nine machine sets in the machine house , which was built on the right, southern bank of the Danube, supply electricity to the public grid . The standard energy capacity is 995 million kWh annually.
Each of these machine sets consists of a Kaplan bulb turbine , each with a directly coupled three-phase generator . The Kaplan bulb turbines each have a nominal output between 19,100 and 19,900 kW and a nominal flow rate of 264 m³ / s each. The impeller diameter is 5.7 m and the nominal speed is 93.75 / min. The mean raw fall height is 9.3 m.
Ecology and economy
The power plant was built in a low-rise construction. A culture and leisure area developed on the right bank of the reservoir in Linz. The backwater dams on the banks of the Danube and along the Traun, which flows south into the dam area of the Danube, made the Linz area flood-free. In addition, the port of Linz became fully navigable even when the tide was low.
The barrage does not have a fish pass. However, this is to be retrofitted in the coming years in the form of a bypass arm.
traffic
A single-lane road runs over the power plant, which pedestrians and cyclists may use. Motorized private traffic is not permitted.
