The Thiergarten hydropower plant on the Danube is located in the Thiergarten district of the Beuron municipality in the Sigmaringen district in Baden-Württemberg . It was built in 1912 and is owned by the Bundeswehr . It is operated by the Bundeswehr Service Center in Stetten am kalten Markt .
In 1910, the Fürstenberg family sold the Hammerschmiede ironworks with weir system, sewer and source of drinking water to the military administration. In 1912 the electrical works were built. The purpose then as well as today is the drinking water supply of the military properties on the Alb, the Heuberg camp , the Alb barracks and the military training area, as well as the generation of the necessary electrical energy.
