The Walker-Mühle power station in Rottenacker is a run-of-river power station on the Danube.

technology

The entire system consists of a 120-meter-long strike weir , the historic powerhouse on the left bank and a powerhouse, completed in 2014, further west on the right bank. With a total of three turbines, the power station has a standard working capacity of 5.2 million kWh annually. There are two turbines in the historic powerhouse, the third turbine in the new western powerhouse is a vertically installed Kaplan turbine of the type KDD-4-2240 from Watec-Hydro with an output of 560 kilowatts and a head of 3.30 meters. Their standard work capacity is 1.4 million kilowatt hours.

history

A weir structure for a mill at this point on the Danube has been proven since 1470. The power plant was built together with the construction of a factory building and is now a listed building. The facility also includes a 35 meter high brick fireplace. In the early days from 1896, the plant powered 200 looms for the Rall textile company, later Walker, using two Francis turbines . The Adolf spinning mill in Ehingen was later supplied with electricity via a line. In 2004 the company Meyer from Memmingen acquired the system. The previous owner of the power plant was the Diethelm company. The third turbine went into operation at the end of 2013 after a two-year construction period in the newly built powerhouse at the western end of the Danube weir. The investment volume for this was four million euros.

ecology

A 126-meter-long fish passage with 26 basins at the new power house serves as bypass water for fish.
