Trey Lorenz
Trey Lorenz (* 19th January 1969 in Florence as the Lloyd Lawrence Smith ) is an African-American singer and songwriter . He is a graduate of Wilson High School.
biography
Lorenz began his career as a background singer on Mariah Carey's first promotional tour in 1990. A year later he contributed the background vocals to Carey's album Emotions . In 1992 Lorenz could be seen and heard again as a background singer at the side of Mariah Carey for an appearance on MTV Unplugged . There the two presented a cover version of the Jackson 5 hit I'll Be There , which they sang at Michael Jackson's official memorial service on July 7, 2009. The unplugged version was released as a single and was a number one hit in the United States. As a result, Lorenz received a recording contract and recorded his first album Trey Lorenz , which was released in 1992. The single Someone to Hold , which was co-written and co-produced by Mariah Carey, and for which she provided the background vocals, climbed to number 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. The album itself had less success and landed at number 111 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, which is why his label separated from him again.
Lorenz returned to his job as a background singer and worked with artists such as TLC , Selena Quintanilla-Pérez and Usher . Together with the Polish singer Basia Lorenz recorded the song She Deserves It for their album The Sweetest Illusion (1994). From 1997, Lorenz again supported Mariah Carey with her albums and concert tours. He also recorded the songs Make You Happy for the Men-in-Black soundtrack (1997) and I'm Still Not Over You for the Money Train soundtrack (1995). He was signed to Mariah Carey's MonarC label and Jermaine Dupri 's So So Def Records label , but did not release anything.
Lorenz's second album Mr. Mista was released on September 16, 2006. One of the songs on this album is See You Sometime , which he sang on his Charmbracelet World Tour.
