Manfred Tripps

Manfred Tripps (born September 9, 1925 in Böckingen ; † November 7, 2010 ) was a German art historian and local politician.

After serving in the war and being a prisoner of war, he completed his Abitur and completed various internships as a ceramist, bookbinder, wood turner and carpenter in order to prepare for a degree in art education. Instead of studying, he first went through a craft apprenticeship and a master's examination before studying art history, archeology, German studies, economic history and sociology at the University of Heidelberg, where he was awarded a magna cum laude doctorate. phil. received his doctorate. From 1967 to 1968 he was director of the Werkkunstschule Mannheim , then until 1971 director of the museums of the city of Düren . In 1971 he was appointed to the Ludwigsburg University of Education , where he was a member of various committees from 1972. He was also a member of the ICOM and the Association of German Art Historians, as well as the Baden-Württemberg State Department of Crafts Education / Technology. He was awarded the Certificate of Merit (Cambridge and Oxford) as well as the Silver Medal of the Republic of Italy for outstanding services to the care of Italian art and culture abroad. Among his book publications, his artist monograph on Hans Multscher received international awards. From 1980 to 1989 he was a member of the Heilbronn municipal council for the CDU , and from 1984 he was chairman of the CDU local association in Böckingen. In 1985 he was awarded the Badge of Honor of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
