The Triton type is a series of container ships from the Costamare Shipping Company . The five ships were delivered in 2016. They belong to the group of ULCS container ships.

history

The series was commissioned by Costamare and York Capital Management in January 2014. It has been built by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries since 2015 . The units are chartered for ten years each by the Taipei- based shipping company Evergreen Marine . The ships are to be used in liner services between Europe and East Asia.

The first ship was christened the Triton , the following was named Titan . The other units were named Talos , Taurus and Theseus .

The ships are by DNV GL classified . As with the majority of the other container ships of this size, they have a deckhouse further forward , which allows an improved line of sight and thus a higher forward deck load. The bunker tanks are arranged below the superstructure; they meet the relevant MARPOL regulations. The holds of the ships are closed with pontoon hatch covers. The maximum container capacity is given as 14,424 TEU. If the storage space is fully utilized, an average container weight of around 9.1 tonnes could be transported; With the average container weight of 14 tons, which is usually assumed for comparison purposes, the capacity is reduced to around 9400 units. There are connections for integral refrigerated containers .

The ships are powered by a two - stroke MAN B&W 11S90ME-C9 & 10 diesel engine that acts on a single fixed propeller made by Mecklenburg Metallguss .
