Drywall fitter

The drywall fitter is a state-recognized training occupation in Germany according to the Vocational Training Act and the Crafts Code .

Duration of training and structure

The training period to become a drywall fitter is usually three years. The training takes place at the training company and vocational school . The job is designed as a mono job and represents the second level of training in the construction industry. It builds on the two-year apprenticeship as a skilled worker .

Work areas

Drywall fitters produce drywall constructions such as assembly walls, cases and aprons, assemble ceiling linings and plank wall and ceiling surfaces. Drywall fitters prepare the subsurface before creating the constructions, install subsurface constructions and then set walls made of gypsum wallboards. Since no concrete or plaster is usually used for this work , they install insulation materials for cold, heat , noise and fire protection . They seal components against non-pressing water and carry out maintenance and renovation work.
