The Trondheim Black Panthers were a Norwegian ice hockey club from Trondheim that was founded in 1986 and dissolved in 2008. The home games were played in the 2500-seat Leangen Ishall .

history

The Trondheim Ishockeyklubb , founded in the 1986 calendar year, finished fourth in the top Norwegian league in 2003. After the sixth place had been reached in the following year, achieved the best placement in the top division, today's GET-league , by reaching second place in the 2004/05 season . During that season, NHL player Mark Bell was on duty for the Black Panthers during the lockout . In the following two years, the team only secured themselves in the playouts to remain in the top division. The team continued for the 2007/08 season due to financial difficulties from the league and was dissolved after the end of the season.

Furthermore, the club took in 1997 on the discharge of the IIHF Continental Cup in part and sat down in the first round with two wins and a draw against Tilburg Trappers , Nijmegen Tigers and Esbjerg IK through. In the second round, with three defeats against Eisbären Berlin , Vålerenga Ishockey and Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38, they were eliminated from the competition.

In 2003, the team took part in the Ahearne Cup as a representative of the highest Norwegian league and met the Belfast Giants and Coventry Blaze from the British Ice Hockey Superleague . The two games each ended with victories for the British teams, which thus decided the 2003 event for themselves.
