Trugenhofen with the castle and the hamlet of Taxis is part of the municipality of Dischingen in the Heidenheim district . Until 1972 Trugenhofen was an independent municipality.

Organ of the Church of St. George
It is possible that the oldest organ in the Heidenheim district can be found in the St. Georg Church, which was previously in the neighboring Taxis Castle.
