Truls Mørk

Truls (Otterbech) Mørk (born April 25, 1961 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian cellist .

Life

He was born in Bergen to a cellist and a pianist . After his mother first taught him the piano, he soon switched to the violin and finally the cello . He first had to persuade his father to give him cello lessons, since he was not too impressed by his son's great enthusiasm for music. He later studied with Heinrich Schiff , Frans Helmerson and Natalia Schakowskaya . Truls Mørk is a guest with all the major orchestras in the world, he is particularly interested in contemporary music, he has given several world premieres. His instrument is a cello ("Esquire") built by Domenico Montagnana in Venice in 1723 and made available to him by the Norwegian SR Bank.

Mørk is professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music .
