Truncatellina arcyensis , in German also smooth cylinder diaper snail, is a type of snail from the family of diaper snails (Vertiginidae) within the suborder of land snails (Stylommatophora).

features

The cylindrical case is 2.2 to 2.4 mm high (2.2 to 2.5 mm: Welter Schultes) and 0.9 mm wide. It has up to seven slightly arched turns, which are separated from each other by a flat seam. The mouth is without teeth and the mouth rim is only slightly thickened. The outer and spindle lips are only slightly bent back. The housing is yellowish-brown. The surface is matt and has irregular growth stripes.

Geographical distribution and habitat

The species' area is limited to three locations on the slopes of the Cure near Arcy-sur-Cure and Saint-Moré and in the Yonne valley near Mailly-le-Château (between Auxerre and Avallon , Yonne department , France). The localities are about 130 m to 200 m above sea level.

The discovery of a flooded empty housing in the Canal d'Entreroches near Orny in the canton of Vaud (Switzerland) is very doubtful .

The animals live at the named locations on dry meadows on stony slopes on calcareous subsoil.

Taxonomy

The taxon was first described by Walter Klemm in 1943 . The species is widely recognized. No synonyms are known.

Danger

Due to the extreme geographical restriction to the few locations, the species is endangered. It is therefore particularly protected in France.
