The Tschentebach is a 5 km long left tributary of the Engstlige in the Swiss canton of Bern . It drains the eastern slopes of the Gsür and the southern slopes of the Bodezehore in the Bernese Prealps and belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Rhine .

The source area of ​​the Tschentebach is around 2000 m above sea level. M. in the foothills of the Alps. The water flow is heavily dependent on the weather. During thunderstorms, the stream can swell rapidly in a short time.

Before it flows into the Engstlige, the Tschentebach flows through the Cholereschlucht , one of the wildest gorges in the Bernese Oberland. The gorge is approx. 100 meters long and offers imposing waterfalls, water mills and cut rocks. Bridges and stairs make it possible to walk through the gorge. The path through the gorge is closed in winter and in bad weather.
