production

The series was produced by novotny + novotny . Filming took place in the summers of 2007 and 2008 in Vienna, u. a. in the Ottakring district . The idea comes from the director Jakob M. Erwa . For the main characters appearing amateur actors were used. The decision on the selection of actors was made through recall castings. Jakob M. Erwa had already worked with amateur actors on the set of the film Heile Welt . Well-known actors such as Reinhard Nowak and Georg Friedrich can be seen in the supporting roles .

content

The series is about a "boy clique" consisting of the characters Jamal, Rafet, Karim and Milan in the migrant milieu of Vienna, who want to win a breakdance contest together with the character Xaver and the name tschuschen: power . In addition, the five young people have to struggle with everyday problems related to their origin and social environment . Together they want to overcome these conflicts. In the second part of the series there is also a group of five girls - also with a migration background. According to Jakob M. Erwa, the aim of the series is to break clichés in a bold way .

Tschuschen: power celebrated its premiere in spring 2008 at the Diagonale film festival . The broadcast on free TV took place from March 30th to April 3rd, 2009 daily at around 5:20 pm on ORF 1 and ORF 1 HD . All 5 episodes were repeated on the following Saturday, April 4th from 1 p.m., at 3:30 p.m. the ORF showed a half-hour making-of . The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation presented the series concept as part of the 2007 program reform.

Since the afternoon program of ORF 1 shows large fluctuations in the number of viewers, in addition to the viewer numbers, the market share and the comparison with the previous and following broadcast must be drawn. The audience ratings of the show and their market shares (MA) moved daily - including the low of 4% MA on April 1 and the high of 11% MA on April 3 - with a difference of one to two percent at the same level as the previous one ( US series Jim Is Always Right ) and the subsequent show ( The Simpsons ). On Saturday the show ran with around 8% market share, which means fewer viewers than the previous Formula 1 GP, but measurably more than the immediately following programs Gossip Girl , Alles Betty and My Boys , which achieved between 4 and 6% MA (at 27,000 to 38,000 spectators).
