history
The newspaper was founded on June 21, 1945 as the successor to Innsbrucker Nachrichten by the American occupation troops, but - since it is located in the French occupation zone - it was published by the French occupation troops from July 10, 1945. The French staffed the editorial team exclusively with Austrian journalists who were not burdened by a Nazi past. Anton Klotz, who had been imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp for three years because of his resistance to National Socialist rule , was appointed as the founding editor . The newspaper should the population through the selection of their products denazify her a Democratic teach mind and learn about the political, economic and cultural developments that had taken place in the world during the war. Editorial policy
The imprint of the Tiroler Tageszeitung reads: The media Tiroler Tageszeitung, Tiroler Tageszeitung am Sonntag, Tiroler Tageszeitung am Bank Holiday, TT compact and Toni Times are independent Tyrolean media, in particular independent of political parties, institutions and interest groups .
However, this independence is controversial. In the case of politically sensitive events, critics believe that a certain degree of influence is conceivable due to the often hesitant or relativizing reporting. This accusation is made primarily by the Ötztal journalist and scandal investigator Markus Wilhelm . He takes the position that publications of political scandals in the Tiroler Tageszeitung are often only based on previous research by Markus Wilhelm and the resulting public pressure and that any source references to Wilhelm or his blog www.dietiwag.org are avoided. According to Wilhelm, this approach indicates that an expansion of the level of awareness of his own definition of competing and above all politically disruptive online platform should be counteracted.
In general, the newspaper is described as liberal - conservative .
JS Moser Medienholding GmbH (75.01%) is the majority owner of the publishing house of the Tiroler Tageszeitung Moser Holding AG . The managing director of JS Moser Medienholding GmbH is Wilfried Stauder , tax advisor and politician (ÖVP).
