The TuS Neuenrade (officially: Turn- und Sportverein Neuenrade eV ) is a sports club from Neuenrade in the Märkisches Kreis . The soccer team played for seven years in the highest Westphalian amateur league and was Westphalian champion in 1974.
history
The roots of the association go back to the year 1862. The soccer department has existed since 1905. In addition, the club offers badminton , handball , judo , athletics , cycling , swimming , skiing , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball .
The football division had its most successful period in the 1970s. In 1970 the team was promoted to the then fourth-class Landesliga Westfalen . There the team made it through to the Verbandsliga Westfalen , the highest amateur league in Westphalia at the time. After eleventh place in the promotion season and fifth place the following year, the Neuenraders were first champions of the association league group 2 in 1974 with five points ahead of SSV Hagen . In the finals of the Westphalia Championship, TuS prevailed 3-0 and 4-2 against the champions of the parallel season SC Recklinghausen and qualified for the German Amateur Championship . There, in the first round , the team narrowly prevailed against Prussia Hameln and then failed in the quarter-finals at VfB 06/08 Remscheid .
Due to the dissolution of the regional league in favor of the new 2nd Bundesliga, TuS Neuenrade remained in the association league, where the team could no longer build on its success. The Neuenrader slipped into mediocrity and missed the qualification for the newly created Oberliga Westfalen in 1978 . A year later the TuS rose from the association league and in 1985 also from the state league. In 1991 TuS was able to move up to the state league for another two years. In the following years the team commuted between the district league and the district league A. Since relegation in 2007, the Neuenrader played in the Lüdenscheider district league A. In 2019, they were promoted to the district league.
