Tubby Hall
Alfred "Tubby" Hall (born October 12, 1895 in Sellies , Louisiana , † May 13, 1946 in Chicago ) was an American jazz drummer of New Orleans jazz .
Tubby Hall is the older brother of the drummer "Minor" Ram Hall . He played in various orchestras in New Orleans from 1913 to 1917 , such as in the marching bands of Buddie Petit, and went to Chicago in 1917, where he played with Sugar Johnny Smith . Then he was a soldier in France for 18 months; after his return from military service he played in Chicago with New Orleans jazz bands such as Jimmie Noone in 1921, Tiny Parham , Johnny Dodds , Carroll Dickerson and with Louis Armstrong in 1926/27 and 1931/32. He can also be seen in Armstrong's films of the early 1930s. In the 1930s he worked with Frankie "Half Pint" Jaxon and Jimmie Noone (1934/36).
