The Holz tunnel in the Baden-Württemberg district of Heilbronn is a tunnel on the 81 federal motorway between Cleversulzbach (to Neuenstadt am Kocher ) and Holz (to Eberstadt ), completed in 1973 .

Geographical location

The Holzer Tunnel leads between Cleversulzbach in the north and Holz in the south under the Holzerner plain ( 296.3  m above sea  level ) belonging to the Sulmer mountain range , which is wooded in the north and has vineyards in the south. It is located between the Weinsberg motorway junction , located around 6  kilometers  (km) east-northeast of Heilbronn , and the Neuenstadt motorway junction, which is around 9.5 km (as the crow flies ) north-northeast of it . Forest paths and paths in the vineyards lead over there.

History and description

The Holzer Tunnel was built from July 1968 to December 1973. It was completely renovated in 2006 and adapted to the latest safety requirements.

The tunnel has two tubes that are 470  meters  (m) (north-south direction) and 462 m (south-north direction) long. There is a speed limit of 100 km / h.
