Tutenstein is an American animated series that was produced between 2003 and 2007.
action
After the mummy of the ten-year-old King Tutankhensetamun has rested for 3,000 years, it is suddenly struck by lightning and thus brought to life. This was caused by the twelve-year-old Cleo and the talking cat Luxor when they were exploring the archaeological museum . Cleo gives him the nickname Tutenstein (a suitcase word from Tutankhamun and Frankenstein ) and does not try very successfully to explain to him that he is no longer a ruler of the ancient world and is now in the present. It is difficult for him to find his way in the 21st century and he has to deal with attacks from the underworld as well as demons and evil gods. Cleo and Luxor make friends with Tutenstein and experience various adventures. Furthermore, some ancient Egyptian gods sometimes help him, such as B. the sun god Re or Hathor , the goddess of love.
Characters
main characters
- Tut Anch En Set Amun ("Tutenstein") - (voiced by Angela Quast )
The impulsive, but lovable, mummified protagonist of the series. His nickname, Tutenstein, is a play on words made up of Tut and Frankenstein , often simply abbreviated to 'Tut'. Tut once lived a lazy, but unfortunately a very short life as an Egyptian pharaoh . He died because he selflessly saved his old friend Nebka from being slain by the stones of a collapsing temple in ancient Egypt . He was killed himself in the process. He couldn't remember that at first, but in the film 'Quarrel of the Pharaohs' he finds out through a journey through time. It is exactly as Tut said: "Being a pharaoh is harmful to health ...". Tut died at the age of 10 and was accidentally brought back to life by Cleo 3,000 years later - so he's 3,010 years old in this day and age. He is the owner of the 'scepter of what' and often has quite a bit of trouble with some Egyptian gods or ancient scrolls, mostly out of boredom or simply ignorance of the modern world. Even if his intentions are always good, and if he only wants to help Cleo with one of her "teenage problems " , for example , his careless use of magic regularly brings him into very dangerous situations. But it is precisely in awkward situations that his shrewdness and courage come to the fore and he always does his very best to put things back in order - and does not hesitate to risk his life (after death) to save his friends. Otherwise, Tut has to spend most of his free time in his sarcophagus, because every day he has to hide his existence from the curious visitors of the museum - extremely boring and arduous for him. He has a very extroverted character, is warm-hearted but ruthlessly honest, which is often misunderstood as rudeness. But well, Tutenstein has a very 'direct' way of expressing his train of thought, and his sarcastic side also comes through in an argument with Cleo. But even with his cheeky demeanor and the special, 'royal' humor, Tut has a golden heart. He loves the game Senet and is addicted to sweets, especially ice cream, or 'cream ice cream' as he calls it.
-
Cleo Carter - (voiced by Celine Fontanges ) A 12-year-old African-American who wants to become an Egyptologist because her father, who disappeared on one of his voyages of discovery, was also one. After running to the museum one late evening after her cat Luxor, she accidentally brought Tut back to life. She is quite opinionated and argues with Tut all the time - complains about his quick temper and the fact that he doesn't mince his words - but always does this in a very rough and insensitive way, which regularly leads to tangible arguments between the two leads. Even if she usually doesn't feel like it, she often has to help Tut get things right. Of course, she would think it would be better if Tutenstein just stayed quietly in his coffin. She is always afraid that someone will find out that Tut is a living mummy , and besides, as a teenager, she " ends up having better things to do than constantly watch over a mummy," as she likes to say. Most of the time, it's pretty obvious that she doesn't necessarily want to spend her time with Tut, would much rather go skateboarding or hang out with friends, and often makes it clear that she's tired of "babysitting for Tutenstein." Typically, she tries to stop Tut from doing something wrong or rash, but because of her disrespectful manner and incomplete explanations on her part, he usually doesn't pay any attention to it. She always has her pocket computer with her, with which she can call up all information about ancient Egypt at any time. Cleo looks like her mother, but misses her father very much. Her favorite color is pink, even if she doesn't necessarily look good in it.
- Luxor - (voiced by Lutz Schnell ) Luxor is Cleo's house cat and Tutenstein's devoted servant, and is probably named after the Luxor temple .
Supporting characters
- Walter Jacobs - The easily scared, nice, but not particularly smart night watchman / security officer of the museum.
- Professor Horace Behdety - A cocky professor and the curious head of the museum. Throughout the series it becomes clear that he is proud and proud of the Egyptian collection in his museum, and there are indications that Behdety is also the one who discovered Tutenstein's tomb.
- Dr. Roxanne Vanderwheele - the professor's colleague - a smart, young woman and a modern archaeologist through and through.
- Rosalie Rivara - Rosalie Rivara is a vain, sensation-hungry reporter and news anchor.
- Natascha - Cleo's best friend, has a bad habit of lying, and she doesn't seem the brightest.
- Kyle - A friend of Cleo's who has a crush on Natascha.
- Jake - A friend of Cleo's and her secret crush.
- Iris Carter - Cleo's mother and she works as a civil engineer.
- Cleo's father - an Egyptologist / archaeologist with rank and name. There are a few short scenes in the series that show that he is presumably alive but trapped in an unknown location
- Thomas - Cleo's 5 year old cousin.
- Nubkar - Tut's best friend from the old days, who with his help is freed from the existence of a restless spirit.
- Buzz and Shakey - two strong bullying guys with whom Tut wants to be friends for a short time, as he is at times impressed by their dubious actions.
- Katie - Cleo's childhood enemy, who has come back to town to vie for Jake's attention.
- Seth - The ancient Egyptian god of the underworld, chaos and annihilation and the villain of the series, who only has in mind to abandon Tut by all means and destroy him in order to rule himself. Seth also wants to free himself from his exile in the dark caves of the underworld.
- The ancient Egyptian gods - including Hathor , Ra , Horus , Osiris , Maat , Anubis , Thot , Isis , Bastet , Atum and Bes - the gods of ancient Egypt, endowed with powerful magical powers, are mostly found as supervisors of the upper and lower world and often also have one Eye on tut. Even if they often only intervene when asked to do so.
- The demons of the underworld - The dull lackeys of Seth, including the two jackal-like demons Kassit and Sekem, a larger one named Emhempti and a hippo named Pehemu. Often they play a role when they are supposed to steal the scepter or destroy Tut on Seth's behalf.
