Twice as Much ( English for "twice as much") is the name of an English singing duo, consisting of David (Dave) Skinner (born July 4, 1946 in London ) and his school friend Andrew Rose (born March 12). With Sittin 'on a Fence , the duo had a top 30 hit in Great Britain and the Netherlands in 1966 .

Band history

The duo of Skinner and Rose performed as a folk duo in London clubs in 1965. In 1966 they got a recording deal with the Immediate label, which belonged to the manager of the Rolling Stones , Andrew Loog Oldham . From 1966 to 1968, Twice as Much released records on Immediate. Stylistically, they were a harmony duo in the tradition of the Everly Brothers , similar to their more successful contemporaries Chad & Jeremy or Peter & Gordon . Although they also wrote their own songs, a large part of their repertoire consisted of cover versions of contemporary hits in baroque-pop-sound arrangements accompanied by orchestras , including by the Beatles , the Rolling Stones and the Small Faces . Her biggest hit, Sittin 'on a Fence, was the cover of a hitherto unreleased song written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards , which the Rolling Stones recorded in 1965, but only released on their American LP Flowers in 1967 . In the Netherlands, Twice as Much had a successor with their own composition True Story .

After 1968 the track of the two musicians is lost. Skinner reappeared in 1972 in the band Uncle Dog (with singer Carol Grimes and guitarist and bassist John Porter ), for whose album Old Hat he wrote most of the songs. He played with Porter for Bryan Ferry , including on his first solo album These Foolish Things . At the same time he was a member of the band Clancy from 1973 to 1977 . With Phil Manzanera he was active in the 801 project and was keyboard player on a tour of Roxy Music in 1979 . Since 1982 he has lived in Sydney as a music producer , songwriter and composer of film music .
