Two Thumbs Up is a best-of album from Tab Two , which combines the hits of the previous eight albums on three CDs. It was released on 36music in 2012 and contains 25 remastered tracks and ten bonus tracks, including the new track The Patient .

history

The album Two Thumbs Up is something special because Tab Two split up twelve years earlier in 2000. The new album was released when the band regrouped for some live performances.

reception

Two Thumbs Up reached number 21 in the German jazz charts in June 2012 . The album was “CD of the week” on WDR 3 in early May 2012 .

At jazzthing .de it says:

“With their mixture of cleverly used electronics, club-tested rhythms, smart rap singing and soft trumpet lines, the found pieces as well as the well-known songs present entertaining music with freak appeal that has remained pleasantly timeless over the years, no, actually got better. So why not speculate that there might be more to it after all. "

The album received unusual attention even before it was released. An employee of Der Spiegel had offered a promo copy for sale ten weeks before the publication date at the English branch of Amazon.com . The band wrote to the editorial staff in an open letter, other newspapers and radio stations picked up the subject, and discussions on the Internet continued for two weeks. Finally, the responsible editorial staff issued a public apology.
