Tyler Gregory Eifert (* 8. September 1990 in Fort Wayne , Indiana ) is an American American football poker players on the position of tight ends . He plays for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Eifert showed athletic talent early on and played basketball in addition to football in high school . Several universities offered him sports scholarships, he opted for the University of Notre Dame and ran between 2010 and 2012 for their team, the Fighting Irish, as a tight end , for which he was also repeatedly awarded.

NFL

He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft as the 21st player . Eifert was able to establish himself immediately and already played all games as a starter in his rookie season . In 2014 he suffered a serious elbow joint injury in his first game and had to pass the rest of the season. In the 2015 preseason , the recovered Eifert made a strong impression, with the potential to become one of the best tight ends in the NFL. He confirmed this impression during the course of the season when he established himself as an important pass recipient for Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton , especially in the Redzone . On the ninth game day he got three touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns , with which he had already caught nine touchdowns this season and set a Bengals franchise record for tight ends.

The 2016 and 2017 seasons were marked by injuries and operations and so Eifert could only appear for his team eight or twice.

This injury misery continued in the following season, in which Eifert could only play three full games. In the fourth game of the season in the win against the Atlanta Falcons, Eifert, who had previously managed a touchdown, suffered a broken ankle, which meant the early end of the season.

Before the 2020 season , Eifert agreed on a two-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars .
