Tyler Mitchell (musician)

Tyler Mitchell (born October 7, 1958 ) is an American jazz bassist.

Mitchell is from Chicago, where he had lessons with Donald Garrett and Malachi Favors and worked with Von Freeman and Sun Ra . He came to New York City in the early 1980s and played in the local loft scene , in the following years also with Steve Grossman , Jon Hendricks , Jesse Davis , Shirley Horn and Art Davis . In the field of jazz he was involved in 14 recording sessions between 1984 and 2014. The jazz club Smalls a live recording of his band was Abraham Burton , Josh Evans ,Spike Wilner and Eric McPherson ( Live at Smalls , 2012).
