The Sunrise type (managed by the shipyard as the Sunrise project ) is a tank motor ship type from the Dutch shipyard GS Yard in Waterhuizen. The type has been built since 2012.

construction

The type was developed by the shipyard in cooperation with, among others, Germanischer Lloyd and its Future Ship development department. The result is a type C tanker with a double hull , which is built in two different sizes, as approximately 85 to 86 meters and as a 110 meter long motor tanker. A flow-optimized hull with a special bulbous bow made it possible to reduce water resistance and reduce fuel consumption by 20 percent. The use of high-strength shipbuilding steel reduces the curb weight and significantly increases the load-bearing capacity compared to a conventional ship.

The coated cargo tanks of the ships are provided with heating. There are two pumps with 300 m³ / hour each for loading and unloading. and a pump with 150 m³ / hour. to disposal. The wheelhouse can be lowered hydraulically. The apartment was partially sunk in the stern and thus reached a low height above the waterline of only 4.30 meters with an empty ship, which is advantageous for canal trips. It is particularly noticeable that the apartment extends over the entire width of the ship and the continuous ribbon of windows that is often found in yacht construction. The latter was not implemented on all ships. The railings attached to the roof can be folded down.

Technical data and equipment

The drive consists of two Volvo Penta D13 engines, which transfer their power via a reversing gear with a reduction of 5044: 1 to the two four -bladed ship propellers in the high-Scew design. The use of two drive motors has the advantage of lower weight compared to a correspondingly larger motor and the redundant structure. In some cases, engines with different powers were installed. Initially, engines with 450  hp were used, later also engines with 500 or 750 hp.

In Bug a four-channel is bow thruster fitted with partially different power. Two Stamford generators powered by Volvo Penta D9 diesel engines with an output of 300 kW are available for the electric drive of the discharge and loading pumps and the bow thruster. In some cases, two John Deere generators with 85 and 60  kVA apparent power are also available.

The ships differ partly in terms of their equipment. For example, a 20 meter long bunker mast is installed on the forecastle of the units built as bunker boats .
