Aderklaaer Strasse from the outside

The Aderklaaer Straße station is an above-ground station on the Vienna underground line U1 in the 21st Viennese district of Floridsdorf . It is located parallel to Holzmanngasse and extends between Aderklaaer Straße and Baldassgasse. The Aderklaaer Strasse, which gives the station its name, was named in 1910 after the Lower Austrian town of Aderklaa on the Vienna city limits .

The station was opened on September 2, 2006 with the commissioning of the section of the U1 between the Kagran and Leopoldau stations . A lift and fixed stairs take you from the central platform to Aderklaaer Strasse or Baldassgasse.

Due to the comparatively low passenger frequency, Wiener Linien even considered closing the station at the beginning of 2007 until the surrounding area (a large piece of land east of the station, the so-called Brachmühle ) had developed accordingly. In 2009, the construction of a park-and-ride facility with around 1500 parking spaces began, which was opened on September 21, 2010.

The Citygate built from 2013 to 2015 next to the underground station

From 2013 to 2015, the Citygate project , consisting of around 1,000 apartments and a shopping center with around 15,000 m² of retail space , was built on the previously fallow site . The complex also includes two high-rise residential buildings (80 and 100 meters) and a public park.
