The Vienna Leopoldau station is an underground and S-Bahn hub in the 21st district of Floridsdorf . Regional trains and three S-Bahn lines stop here. The northeastern terminus of the U1 underground line is also located here . The station is located between Thayagasse and Schererstraße, parallel to these and extends between Höbarthgasse and Adolf-Loos-Gasse. It is named after the former village and what is now the Leopoldau district .
After the construction of a gas works in Leopoldau in 1911, a train station was built the following year, which should facilitate the delivery of coal for the gas works and also relieve the Floridsdorf shunting yard. The Leopoldau loading point station was thus part of the Kaiser-Ferdinands-Nordbahn . On September 2, 2006, the underground station built south of the existing northern line was opened with the commissioning of the section of the U1 between the Kagran and Leopoldau stations . It is possible to change to the bus lines 29A, 32A and 36B of Wiener Linien and the regional bus line 125 in the direction of Gerasdorf . At night on weekdays (Monday to Friday) it is connected to the Vienna night bus network by the NightLine line N25 , while the U1 line runs non-stop on weekends and public holidays. On Saturday and Sunday nights, a train on the S2 line that goes to Mistelbach stops here at around 2:30 a.m. To the east of the train station is a park-and-ride facility, to the north is the Nordrandsiedlung and to the south is the Großfeldsiedlung municipal housing estate .
