The Keplerplatz underground station is a station on the Vienna underground line U1. It is located in the 10th district of Vienna, Favoriten , under the pedestrian zone Favoritenstrasse between Raaber-Bahn-Gasse and Gudrunstrasse . The station was built using the cut-and-cover method and was put into operation on February 25, 1978 when the first section of the U1 was opened.
The station has a central platform with exits at both ends of the platform. The exit out of town leads to the pedestrian underpass under the busy Gudrunstraße and to the Keplerkirche, via it you can also get to the stops of the bus line 14A in Gudrunstraße. The northern exit leads to Favoritenstrasse at the level of Raaber-Bahn-Gasse. The station can be reached barrier-free via an elevator that leads from the middle of the platform to Keplergasse.
Like the square and the alley, the station is named after the German astronomer Johannes Kepler (1571–1630). On the square is a small park that surrounds the Keplerkirche , built in the neo-renaissance style between 1872 and 1876 , the first church in the then new district. The administrative building for the 10th district with the municipal district office as well as Viktor-Adler-Platz and Markt are in the immediate vicinity .
