Biesdorf-Süd is an above-ground underground station on the U5 line in the Berlin district of Biesdorf in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district . The Biesdorf Baggersee is located north of the underground station .

The underground station was opened on July 1, 1988 as part of the eastward extension of the former E line, which until then ended at the Tierpark underground station , which was opened in 1973 , as the first of two new stations. The new terminus of line E for the time being was the Elsterwerdaer Platz underground station further east .

Due to the plans for a new residential area around what was then Gut Hellersdorf , it was decided to discard the previously planned extension of Line E from Tierpark in the direction of Karlshorst and Schöneweide and to secure the urgently needed connection to the intended residential area.

Exactly one year later, on July 1, 1989, the line to Hellersdorf was completed, so that the U5 line has since reached its eastern terminus at Hönow , which is located on the border with the state of Brandenburg .

Connection

There is no direct transfer from the U5 line to other public transport.
