history

View over the turning system to the underground station, 1991

The underground station was planned under the name Hellersdorfer Straße , but when it opened on July 1, 1989, it was named after Albert-Norden-Straße . In the course of German reunification , the BVG renamed the station on October 2, 1991 in Kaulsdorf-Nord ; after Albert-Norden-Strasse was renamed Cecilienstraße , another renaming was considered.

location

The station has a twelve-meter-wide central platform in the cut in the terrain and is right next to Hellersdorfer Strasse. It is the lowest station of the entire above-ground section of the Tierpark - Hönow line , so that the roof of the platform is roughly at street level. Two long covered pedestrian bridges serve as access to the train station, the north of the two has ramps for barrier-free access. The Spree-Center shopping center is around 100 meters away on the other side of Hellersdorfer Strasse. In addition to the subway, the station can be reached with several bus lines .

There is a double-track sweeping system north of the train station . During rush hour , some of the trains coming from Alexanderplatz already end in Kaulsdorf-Nord and do not go through to Hönow .

Remembering Albert Norden

Since Albert-Norden-Strasse was renamed Cecilienstraße, nothing in the area reminds of the former Jewish journalist. As a reminder, the words Who was Albert Norden? appropriate.

Connection

The underground station has been served by the U5 line (until 1990: line E) of the Berlin subway since it opened. You can change to bus lines 191, 197, 269, 291, N5 and N91 (night lines).
