The Heimersdorf underground station is a tunnel station in the north of Cologne , which is served by the Stadtbahn line 15.

location

The underground station is located in the Heimersdorf district of Cologne under the Haselnussweg. The station is located in a small tunnel, the two side platforms of which are a good 90 meters long. Line 15 leads north to the Chorweiler terminus and south via Longerich, Weidenpesch, Ebertplatz and the rings to the Ubierring.

The station is served by the KVB bus lines 122 and 125. Line 122 runs east to Wilhelm-Sollmann-Strasse and north via Chorweiler to Pesch, line 125 offers transfer options north to Weiler and east to Pulheim - Sinnersdorf .

history

With the construction of the large housing estates in Chorweiler, they needed a tram connection. Until then, three tram lines (9, 10, 19) only ran to Longerich, which is south of the settlements. In 1971, the underground station was completed as one of two stations on the line extension, which from then on was served by line 9. In the course of the line network reform in 1994, line 9 now led to Sülz instead of Chorweiler; In return, line 18 took over the route to Chorweiler from Ebertplatz. In 2003, lines 18 and 15 exchanged their northern line ends, so that the station has been served by line 15 since then.

layout

Since the Cologne road and rail network in the 1960 to 1980 Einrichtungs -Straßenbahnwagen ( DÜWAG ) has been operated, the stations have had side platforms. Their surface here has a height of 35 cm above the upper edge of the rail. The walls of the station are tiled in gray, the two direction tracks are separated by light gray columns, which are used for statics, and a fence. This design is typical of the tunnel stations of the 1970s and early 1980s in Cologne. The station is barrier-free.
