In the glow of the sun , also UV - Tödliche Verführung (DVD title), (Original title: UV ) is a French thriller from 2007. The screenplay for the film is based on the novel Ultraviolet by the French author Serge Joncour.

action

A man named Boris turns up unexpectedly on an elderly couple's estate. Their daughters, Julie and Vanessa, also stay there. Vanessa's husband André-Pierre and their two children, Octave and Jofroi, complete the group.

Nobody knows Boris, but he pretends to be a friend of Philip, the couple's son. He is received in a friendly manner. With his charm he conquers the hearts of the couple and daughters, only André-Pierre remains skeptical. While they await the arrival of Philip together, the protagonists approach each other.

André-Pierre is jealous of Boris. The two men provoke each other verbally. Both Julie and Vanessa have a sexual relationship with Boris. The mother becomes suspicious, the father remains friendly. Boris remains inscrutable for the family.

Finally Philip appears on the scene. Boris, André-Pierre and Philip meet in the neighboring village, but Boris is missing when he returns to the house. In a later flashback, the three men are shown on a boat trip together. In the process, Philip beats Boris with a crowbar. André-Pierre does not intervene and Boris is left in the sea.

Philip reveals to André-Pierre that he and Boris had shared a cell in prison and that Boris was expecting something in return from Philip, which Philip was not willing to pay. Boris is not dead, however. Towards the end of the film, he goes to the estate again. Philip's father then shoots him from a greater distance. The reason for this murder remains unclear.

Scenic details

At the beginning of the film, when Boris appears, Julie and Vanessa are staged on deck chairs. At the end of the film, when Boris suddenly appears again, it is Philip and André-Pierre who are sunbathing on the deck chairs.

criticism

The Internet portal kino.de comments, “In the past, something like this would have come from Chabrol , and Alain Delon would have played the opaque guest. Unfortunately, a star of this caliber cannot be made out… ”.

The internet portal prisma.de sees it similarly and adds, "Beautiful, bored people in a feudal villa in a wonderful, sun-drenched landscape - and a mysterious stranger".

The Internet portal cinema.de , on the other hand, sees deficits : “The slightly faded, almost whitish images are attractive, but the lethargy seems to be due not only to the heat, but also to a pale script. So the thriller, which turns into a drama, remains without tension. "
